THE SILENCE OF FROGS

Not one bullfrog croaked.
Not a tiny peep was heard.
Not one cheery ribbit.
Not a thrum. Not a chirp. Not a trill.

Near the largest frog farm in the world, townspeople synchronize their lives to soulful, all-day all-night frog song. One day, the frogs fall silent. The music dies.

Anxiety and depression overwhelm the citizens, the town's economy stumbles. The pharmacy can't keep up with demands for tranquilizers and stimulants. Frog rustlers steal the farm's harvest. Plagues of starlings, crows, and rampant frogs shock everyone, driving many out of town.

When word of The Silence spreads, social media go feral with jokes and insults. An entrepreneur nearly destroys the frog ponds. Religious leaders gather to calm the community while shamans and a posse of retired military arrive to offer their help. The mayor chooses a Frog Princess to summon fairy tale magic.

Nothing works.

Rosa, a precocious scientist, feels frogs are the most important crea- tures in the world because they change from fish to animals.

Ignoring the town's turmoil, finding support from her friends in the squad named "Spec Ops for Frogs," Rosa focuses on her research. She won't give up until she discovers the mysterious source of The Silence.

The Silence of Frogs is no traditional fable where animals speak moral truths to people. Rather, the tale explores how imagination, humor, and perseverance can bring astonishing discoveries.
